Underdog = Super Hero

In our HPE world, we know a thing or two about underdogs. From the moment we first heard the word “holoprosencephaly”, we received a front-row seat in the drama of underdogs.  Who hasn’t heard the phrase “incompatible with life”, yet looks around our HPE community world and sees the smiling faces of 20 and 30-year olds living with HPE?  In a world where expectations are low and words such as “can’t” and “won’t” are  too frequent, it is refreshing to see an underdog excel and be recognized as the hero we know them to be.

For the past six years, race car driver Josh Timmerman has been a champion for the underdogs, using his race car to raise awareness for our special kids with HPE.  By his own admission, Josh is an underdog; he isn’t the best driver on the track with the fastest race car, but he has the biggest heart and a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of others.  After participating in several conferences, events, and fundraising opportunities for the organization, Josh joined the board of directors of Families for HoPE in 2011.

Speed51.com, a popular racing site on the internet, hosts a “Most Popular Driver” competition among the best and most victorious drivers on short tracks across the country. To be eligible, a driver had to be in the top-10 in their respective touring series or top-5 in their weekly track divisions; however, because it’s a competition determined by fan votes, Speed51.com also had an option for fans to add a write-in candidate.

It was announced yesterday that our very own Josh Timmerman is one of the top-5 write-in vote-getters!  He’s an underdog in the competition, but when underdogs stick together, we can make a difference in this world!

Vote for Josh Timmerman

Here’s what we need you to do . . . Vote for Josh!
