By popular demand, Families for HoPE is bringing back a favorite t-shirt campaign with an updated graphic.
It is quite common for healthcare providers to ask the parent of a child with HPE where the parent received his/her medical training or education. For the most part, HPE parents become the expert on their child and learn as much as they possibly can about the condition.
Whether we realize it or not, as a parent of a child with HPE, we immediately become an educator because nearly everyone we will encounter from that point on has never heard of Holoprosencephaly. When it comes to healthcare providers, many have read of Holoprosencephaly but have never treated a patient with it. To hear a parent explain the condition with such confidence, many just assume that the parent must have a medical background.
