Scott, Nancy and Jillian Bleggi at the 2010 Family Conference on HPE
With great sadness, we share the news of the passing of Nancy Bleggi, following a struggle with cancer.
Nancy remains one of our beloved HPE moms and has been a source of encouragement and education for countless HPE families over three decades. Nancy and her husband, Scott entered our HPE community following the birth of their daughter, Gina, in 1983. Gina passed in 2010 at the age of 26 years old.
At a time before the internet, parents often spent hours in libraries searching through medical books to help educate themselves about HPE, and through the years, it is parents like Nancy and Scott who helped educate us all on daily life with a child living with HPE. Through written newsletters, ListServ groups, online support groups, and social media, Nancy shared her observations, experiences, and hope, yet she was careful to avoid giving anyone “false hope”. Nancy was mindful to always balance honesty with compassion.
Our hearts and deepest sympathies are with Scott and daughter Jillian. We love you both.
