The 1st Annual Holoprosencephaly Awareness Week kicks off tomorrow! We want to hear what you and your family and friends are doing to help raise awareness and educate others about this condition that has made such an impact on our lives.
Professional race car driver Kyle Gimple is doing his part to raise awareness today! Kyle’s cousin, Lexi, was born with HPE, and he has made Holoprosencephaly awareness his mission.
Only two races into the season, and Kyle sits at the top of the Scoring Chart for the Continental Tire Street Tuner Division with veteran co-driver, Ryan Eversley. Driving for Compass360 Racing, the Eversley/Gimple duo captured a 3rd place finish at Daytona International Speedway. Last week, they followed up with a 6th place finish at the newly-opened Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
The #75 Honda Civic Si carries the Families for HoPE logo, and while interacting with fans, Kyle hands out wristbands, balloons, hero cards, and more to “Share the HoPE” with his fans to learn more about Holoprosencephaly. Kyle’s races are tape-delayed and broadcast on the Speed Channel. Last week’s race from Austin will be broadcast TODAY at 4pm ET on Speed. (How many glimpses will we see of our Families for HoPE logo on tv today?)
You don’t have to be a race fan to see that our journey with HPE has many similarities to a race. Kyle races a road course with many twists and turns. In what other ways can you see a similarity between the HPE journey and racing?
