To paraphrase a well-known quote, “A journey of 1 million steps begins with a single HoPE”.
HPE grandfather Dennis Clifton (aka Coach) is on track to break a Guinness world record tomorrow with 1 million steps taken in 31 days all for the sake of HoPE!
A resident of the Cincinnati, Ohio area, Coach is the grandfather of 2-year old Abby and her twin sister, Sydney. As we understand it, Abby and Coach had a conversation on July 31 that went a little something like this:
Abby: “Hey, Coach! Think you could run and walk a million steps for me in, oh say, 31 days?”
Coach: “Sure, why not, Abby? I’d swim the widest ocean, climb the highest mountain, and fight the meanest bear in the forest for you.”
Abby: “Thought so. I signed you up last week, so you better get in good shape! It starts tomorrow.”
Thus began the “Steps for Abby” campaign, a 31-day journey of 1 million steps! When Coach takes that millionth step on August 31, he will be setting a Guinness World Record for the most steps in 31 days.
